CORNISH KIDDIES
HAND MADE CHILDREN'S WEAR


Cornish Kiddies is a locally owned cottage industry, based in Penzance, Cornwall which manufactures and retails children's clothes, from new-born to 8 years.

The business, as owned and run by Jean Howes, was established in 1991 with sales to customers from as far away as Europe, Asia and America.

The clothes are traditional in nature ranging from pinafores and dungarees in summer and winter weights, to summer dresses and baby sun suits. Most outfits are complimented by matching hats.

Prices range from £12.99 to £17.99 for dresses and dungarees and hats from £6.99 to £8.99. A more extensive price range is given on the following pages, together with sample photographs of colours and styles currently available.

Fabrics used are mainly 100% cottons from U.K. and America as well as lightweight poly-cottons for summer dresses and sun suits.

Genuinely Cornish!

The 'Made in Cornwall' Scheme, or Approved Origin Scheme as it is officially known, is promoted by Cornwall County Council's Trading Standards Department and was launched in 1991. It was established following numerous complaints from consumers who had purchased so called 'Cornish' products, only to find that they were actually produced elsewhere.

Cornwall is renowned for its wealth of artistic talent and craftsmanship, and the description 'Cornish' is generally associated with quality poducts and produce. Unfortunately, like so many good things, someone always tries to copy or impersonate the Cornish identity and descriptions such as 'Cornish Ice Cream', 'Cornish Pasty' and 'Cornish Clotted Cream Fudge', which are in use daily by companies throughout the Country, are examples of this.
